LED technology is rapidly growing and, these days, you are likely to find a number of devices utilising LED lights in your

home, such as televisions and computer monitors. One of the more popular uses for these types of lights today is in the form

of a downlight, which offers a number of benefits to homeowners that choose to use them in their homes, including:

A 10 watt LED downlight is able to provide the same illumination that a 50 watt halogen globe does. This means that 5

times less energy is used for powering these lights âEUR" this is a considerable drop for your electricity bills.

A halogen downlight only lasts for around 2,500 hours before needing to be replaced, whereas an LED one will last for

anywhere between 25,000 and 50,000 hours before dying.

LED globes are much cooler to the touch, even when switched on, than halogen ones. This helps to ensure the safety of

children and pets who do not understand that a hot light will burn them.

An LED downlight does not contain any toxic materials, such as mercury, which can be released into the atmosphere should

the globe ever be broken.

With all of these benefits, why donâEUR(TM)t more homeowners make use of LED downlights? The main reason is that these

kinds of globes are significantly more expensive than all the others currently on the market (where a standard incandescent

globe will cost you a few dollars, you could be looking at around $40 for an LED one). Another reason is that homeowners are

quite happy to stick with what theyâEUR(TM)ve got and are afraid to make any changes.

But this doesnâEUR(TM)t mean that you should not buy LED downlights. Even though the other globes on the market are

cheaper to buy, it is also important to take into account that LED downlights use less energy and last much longer, so the

initial cost will work out to be actually saving you money. You shouldnâEUR(TM)t be afraid of change âEUR" an LED

downlight should fit into the same sockets as other globes, making the changeover as seamless as possible.

With a focus on energy efficiency and protecting the environment on the rise, it is expected that the use of LED downlights will

also rise. DonâEUR(TM)t wait until itâEUR(TM)s too late to change your homeâEUR(TM)s lighting over to these handy little

globes âEUR" join the trend today and invest in some downlights that actually stand to save you money.

Installing LED Downlights can be the easiest thing in the world - but this will all depend on your requirements. If you are looking at installing a 12V and / or dimmable application, then there are few things you'll need to have in place to ensure your LED Downlights operate optimally and for the duration of their exceptionally long life spans.
