During the Second World War, a company called C.S.A. Industries of Warwick made nose cones for Spitfires (the fighter plane that won the Battle of Britain). Wondering what to do with all the aluminium they had stockpiled following the Allies' victory, they hit upon the bizarre idea of turning it into rather fancy kitchen units, which they called English Rose.
